Loose boat cleared from motorway

A boat which had come adrift from its trailer has been cleared from a motorway in southern Scotland. Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary reported the incident at about 1400 BST on the A74(M) near junction 18 at Lockerbie. A spokesman said the northbound carriageway had been reduced to one lane as a result of the incident. Slow-moving traffic was experienced in the area for some time until operations were completed to recover the boat.
