Fruitland crash leaves two injured

By Stephanie Hale

BOISE - Emergency crews responded to an accident on I-84 at about 4:30 a.m. this morning. The accident occurred near the New Plymouth Exit on westbound I-84.

According to officials, one man was taken by helicopter to a Boise hospital with severe head injuries after apparently being dragged 50-100 feet.

His son was taken to Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario, while a dog, who was also in the vehicle, was taken to Fruitland for an emergency surgery.

Idaho State Police say that a cargo trailer ended up on its side with a Dodge Ram on top of it. Rescue crews had to cut the roof off the Dodge Ram to get to the passengers.

The left bound lane was closed for a duration of the morning, but should be reopened.
